Tuka Ophange , Bali
Laura Dean currently supports the Tuka Orphanage in Dalung, Bali. This Franciscan Orphange is run by several nuns belonging to the Catholic Franciscan Order and is headed by Sister Maria Esther.
At the moment there are around 82 children at the Orphange, covering a wide age group, as the Orphanage has a policy of allowing older children to stay on until they are able to find employment to 'pay their own way'.
The children have been places at the Orphanage for reasons such as bad economic circumstances, or their parents have passed away. The majority are female.
